Colorado History Day Staff--About Us
Chris Sundberg, State Coordinator, has taught history in both private and public high school in this country and in Tanzania for over 25 years. She has just completed 11 years as an International Baccalaureate High School teacher and is very excited to be part of Colorado History Day. She has received numerous awards for her teaching from organizations such as the United Nations, the National Education Association, the Colorado Education Association as well as being named Colorado Teacher of the Year by the Daughters of the American Revolution and Walmart/Phi Delta Kappa. She realizes how much work teachers and students are required to do and is looking forward to blending Colorado History Day with the work they are doing, rather than having it as additional work.
Stacey Pendleton, Assistant State Coordinator, received a master's degree in history from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2008, with an emphasis on U.S. and modern British history. Her interests include the Cold War, 1950s social and cultural history, Colorado history, and various topics within diplomatic and social history. She has taught undergraduate history courses at CU-Denver. She has experienced History Day on several levels, starting as a participant in 1998 with a project about the Irish Famine and Irish immigration to the United States. She has also mentored Denver Public School students preparing History Day projects, and has served as a judge and volunteer captain at regional and state History Day competitions. She is excited to be a part of the Colorado History Day team!
